Chauri Chaura, Uttar Pradesh Chauri Chaura is a small town in  Uttar Pradesh, known for a tragic incident during India's non-cooperation movement against British rule in 1922. A group of protesters clashed with the police, leading to  the death of several policemen.  As a result, Mahatma Gandhi suspended the non-cooperation movement, making it a significant event in India's struggle for freedom.

Bhopal Gas Tragedy Site, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh The Bhopal Gas Tragedy of  1984 is considered one of the  world's worst industrial disasters.  A pesticide plant leaked toxic gas, resulting in the immediate death  of thousands of people, and  causing long-term health issues  for many more. The site now  serves as a memorial and a  reminder of the consequences  of industrial negligence.

Sabarmati Ashram,  Ahmedabad, Gujarat While Sabarmati Ashram is a significant place associated with Mahatma Gandhi's non-violent resistance during the freedom struggle, it also has a dark past. During the Quit India Movement in 1942, many activists were arrested and incarcerated here by the British authorities.
